Colvin Funeral Home being a successor to the firm of Dimick & Maxam Furniture and Undertaking, that started in Princeton in 1852, has continued to be a local family owned and operated funeral establishment.
Colvin Funeral Home, Inc. has maintained a tradition of offering professional, yet personal service that has been associated with the Colvin family since 1908 when Oliver Colvin moved to Princeton from Pike County. With his four sons (Frank, Herold, Joseph and Jack Colvin) later joining him and then taking over the business, they continued to be well respected for the quality of service they provided.
There were four young men who worked with the Colvin brothers and were able to learn the skills and the ability to provide that special touch that was associated with the funeral home. Joseph "Joe" Maxey, Richard "Rick" Hickrod, Mark R. Walter and J.B. Wells purchased the funeral home from the Colvin family in December of 1977 and continued the legacy of quality service.
It was looked on as an opportunity to provide quality service with another funeral home that had also been well respected in our area. The Corn Mortuary of Oakland City was purchased by the four owners of the Colvin Funeral Home, Inc. and David Corn in December of 1993, to form Corn-Colvin Funeral Home, which has enabled us to continue to provide professional, yet personal service, that both funeral homes have been noted for.
As a continuation of service to the community in 1994, we felt a need to provide monuments for families in our area. We formed the Tri-State Monument Company which provides a wide range of colors, styles and types of granite at the lowest possible prices. Tri-State Monument is located at 106 E. Brumfield, on the corner of North Main and Brumfield in Princeton.
The funeral homes offer all different types of services associated with funeral service today. We are willing to help you create the service that will be meaningful to you and your family. We offer arrangements for funerals or memorials at the time of need and also offer prearrangement and prefinancing of funerals before the need arises. We can help you arrange for all types of disposition of the deceased, whether it be inground burial, entombment in a mausoleum, or cremation. The Colvin Funeral Homes are there to provide guidance and expertise for completing any of these arrangements. Our services extend beyond the funeral. We can provide resources for grief recovery which may help the family in coping with their loss. We can assist families with some of the paperwork associated with insurance claims, social security, and veterans benefits.
The Colvin Funeral Homes are dedicated to service to others not by gold but by the Golden Rule. We have remained local family owned and operated funeral establishments.
