Shirley Welch Obituary

Shirley Jean Welch, 87, of Princeton, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville. She was born February 8, 1935 in Gibson County to the late Alexander and Margaret (Weist) Phillips. She worked as a secretary for many years and was a past member of Enon General Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday School Teacher. She was also a past member of First General Baptist Church. Shirley supported many non-profit organizations, she supported the veterans, the Appalachian Children, and the Indian Children. Shirley enjoyed getting together with her family, especially at reunions. She made many memories with her family traveling and making trips to some of her favorite places, the beach, the pyramids, and her most recent favorite, the river barge. She was loved dearly and will be missed.

Shirley is survived by her children, Jacey Conner and Jancey Smith (Zeke) both of Princeton; grandchildren, Janell, Janett, Brandon, Mike, Kimberly, Christina, Patrick, and Jared; several great-grandchildren; and the father of her children, Jim Welch.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Marjorie Muncy, Virginia Rose Kirch, Evelyn McNeese, Harold Phillips, Clayton Phillips, Henry Phillips, and Elmer Phillips.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, October 3, 2022 at Decker Cemetery North of Princeton officiated by Jim Morrow and interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Shirley’s honor, should be given to Decker Cemetery located at 1180 W 440 N, Patoka, IN 47666. Online condolences can be given at www.colvinfuneralhome.com. Colvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Welch family.
