Renee Johnson Obituary

Renee Johnson, 58, of Huntingburg and formerly of Washington, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at her home. She was born on January 28, 1963 in Bedford, IN. She was a church secretary and member at New Life Church of the Nazarene in Princeton.

Renee is survived by her parents, Gerri and John Jones of Bedford; a son, Rev. Andrew Johnson (Lydia) of Princeton; twin daughters, Ashley Diaz (Phil) of Greencastle, IN and Brittany Ireland (Thom) of Jasper, IN; 7 grandchildren; 3 siblings, Sherry Haley, Connie Richard and Daniel Ritchison.

Her husband, Rev. George J. Johnson preceded her in death in 2018.

Here are some reasons why I’ve always wanted to be Renee Johnson when I grow up

Her cooking is better than anyone in the whole wide world From her deviled eggs, cheesy potato soup, mashed potatoes. At her dinners You must have at least 7 sides Per Sunday dinner
She was generous to a fault. She was always bringing everyone random gifts at any time and then saying guess how much I got it for and then infamously saying “a dollar.”
She introduced me to what a rat hole is. She always had a little pocket of money hidden somewhere and was amazing at saving her money but normally gave it away to her kids or grandkids.
She loved old movies and shows. She watched the show ER 5 times through.
She loved the Smokey mountains and any other vacation she could go on. She most recently had her sights on Vegas.
Her kids were her life. If one child was not happy she would be on a mission to make their lives easier in any way.
She made holidays magical. From games to ugly sweater contest to prizes that every grandkid would win,no matter what it was magical.
She was always making everyone feel special. Most recently buying her best friend a trophy for being a “Jesus freak”
Her home was always gorgeous and homey. Decorated in a country chic decor it made you want to cuddle up and watch a movie and we always did.
She was a girly girl who loved to get her nails, toes and hair done
Lastly honestly she made life fun. She was up for anything. You could call her and say “want to have a craft day, movie day, hobby lobby day!” Her answer was always “sure”
Her most treasured thing was her grandkids Emily, Caleb, Emma, Eliza, Lilly, Cooper and Liam. Her daily plans were centered around what they were doing and who she was going to have or see that day. She was always hassling For more grandkids but made sure she said the seven of hers were perfect.
Habits Renee might not want us to possess when we grow up.

Her snoring could wake heaviest sleeper and was lovingly named “tugboat” from family
She said once she joined a choir for the first time and shortly after the choir broke up. She sang to the Lord with a joyful “noise”
She had an addiction to Vera Bradley that she could not give up.
She can lovingly be called a hoarder and still owned every toy her children ever played with.

We absolutely do not know how we will go on without her but we know she is with her Heavenly Father and her George in heaven.
