R. Cargill Wilson Obituary

R. Cargill Wilson, 96, of Princeton, passed away Monday, March 23, 2020 at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton. He was born in Morning Sun, Iowa on June 9, 1923 to parents, John Wilson and Bessie (Latham) Wilson. Mr. Wilson proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of Broadway Christian Church and also attended Bethel Memorial Church. He married Wilma (Lichtenberger) Wilson on March 2, 1945 and they were blessed with 63 years together before her passing on June 8, 2008. He married Barbara Singleton on March 15, 2015 and she survives. Mr. Wilson was an avid quail, rabbit, and squirrel hunter. He served as the Christian Youth Fellowship Leader, Board Leader, and Elder at Broadway Christian Church where he also taught Sunday School for many years. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play in their sports games.   

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Barbara Singleton-Wilson of Princeton; children, Gary Wilson of Dubuque, Iowa, Keith Wilson of Duffield, Virginia, Dale Wilson of Princeton, Janet Holder of Princeton, and his foster son, Terry Skaggs of Winter Haven, Florida; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Joan McReynolds of Princeton; sister-in-law, Lois Smith of Princeton; and special cousins, Jennifer Mayhall and Jeff Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife.

A private family visitation will be held. A private graveside and burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton officiated by Reverend John Dunn.
