Phillip Wills Obituary

Phillip D. Wills, 80, of Princeton, formerly of Sullivan, passed away with his wife by his side in their home Friday, July 3, 2020. He was born November 16, 1939 in Merom, Indiana to Norval “Pete” and Quanita (Elliott) Wills. Phillip served in the United States Marine Corps and was a proud Marine veteran continuing his service with Toys for Tots. He had worked many career fields until retiring at age 75 including his work at Hutsonville, Illinois power plant, the restaurant field where he met his wife, the trucking industry, the Department of Indiana State, security at Jay C, and Work One Princeton and Vincennes where he made so many friends and good neighbors. He married his wife, Gayle Wills, on June 4, 1983 and they owned a restaurant and retail business for over a decade. Phillip and Gayle enjoyed flower gardening and pets after his retirement. They had no biological children together, but so very many by the heart. They were totally devoted to each other and the family they made. He upheld the privilege and pride being a Brother, Husband, Dad, Poppy, Grandpa, Papaw, PaPa, Pepa, Grandpa Great, and Poppy Great. He will be sorely missed.

Phillip is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Gayle Wills; children, Jeremy (Marcia) Whetstone, Susan (Max) Harris, Lori (Jeff) Barnes, and Marty Wills; grandchildren, Jarred Holmes, Justin Harris, Jordan (Leeanna) Harris, Brock (Megan) Raley, Kaylan (Blake) Neal, Keaton (Kevin) Schuh, Korinth Whetstone, Karli Whetstone, James Whetstone, Jack Whetstone, and Eldon Wills; great-grandchildren, Nichola and Elizabeth Harris, Addison and Paisley Harris, Gracelyn, Naomi, and Brixton Neal, and Arhianna, Jacob, and Cason Raley; brother and sister of Sullivan, Indiana, Steven Wills, Glynn Wills, and Merita Sebring; sister-like cousin, Donna Brannon; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews on both his and Gayle’s side.

He can now rest in peace with his parents; brother, Lynn Wills; and son, Jason Hayes Whetstone who’ve all gone before him.
