Nina Ellis Obituary

Nina Ann Priestly-Ellis was born September 10, 1954. She lived a fulfilled life as a wife, sister and aunt until April 12, 2021 when she went to sit with the Lord, her parents, brother and several aunts and uncles in the After.

Nina was married to James Ellis in 1983 and served as a Navy Wife, banker, several types of assistants and finally retired as a government official working at the DMV in Jacksonville, FL.

Upon graduation from Princeton High School, Nina pursued a college degree at Indiana State University in Terre Haute. She was voted Kappa Queen during Rush Week at Greek Sorority Kappa Alpha Psi and obtained a degree in Business Management.

After college, Nina moved to Atlanta, GA where she worked as a banker and met husband, James Ellis. Over the next 37 years she and James lived in the same home in Jacksonville Florida. In 2021, Nina became ill and passed away in the morning hours of April 12.

Nina is survived by her husband James, sister Portia Priestly, nieces Charon, Cathy, Carmen, and Jennifer and nephews Christopher, Cecil, and Dustin along with several great-nieces and great-nephews. She is proceeded in passing by her mother Alvina Marie, father Sylvanious Tyree, brother Cecil Leroy, brother-in-law Alton Clyde and several aunts and uncles.

Nina had chosen to be cremated. Her remains will be interred at Sand Hill Cemetery in Princeton, IN near her mother and father’s monuments. Graveside service will be conducted at 11 am Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Sand Hill Cemetery near Lyles Station, west of Princeton. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery.
