Nancy Adams Obituary

Nancy JoAnne (Banas) Adams, 64, of Petersburg, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021 at Golden Living Center in Petersburg. She was born July 10, 1956 in Terre Haute. She attended Paul Schulte High School in Terre Haute and graduated near the top of her class then earned her Bachelors degree at Indiana State University where she graduated with honors. She received her Masters degree from Purdue and continued her education at Penn State. She taught Foreign Language at Clinton Central in northern Indiana, LaGrange, Georgia, and Switzerland County in southeast Indiana. Finally, she taught Spanish and French at Princeton Community High School for 30 years where she retired a few years ago. She especially loved French. She enjoyed traveling and had spent time in Paris, France. She also enjoyed directing theater plays for the high school students such as “How to Succeed in Business”, “Two by Two” and “Cats” and one of the biggest was an Easter play in Vevay in 2001 called “The Witness”. She married her childhood sweetheart from 1st grade, Jeff Adams on June 24, 1995. She had been a member of the Sorrowful Mother Catholic Church in Vevay, IN, St. Bernard Snake Run Catholic Church in Fort Branch, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton and most recently Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg. She loved to read, sew, loved animals and treasured family and friends. She always cared about others, was always doing for others and never thought of herself.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Jeff of Petersburg; daughter, Alina Adams of Petersburg; stepson, Cory Adams (Kyla) of Westfield, IN; step grandson, Jeremiah Adams; sister, Donna McKean (Tim) of Polland, IN; nieces, Jessie and Kady McKean; several aunts and uncles; and longtime special friends, Carol Riley of Daleville, IN, Janet Hendricks of Vevay, IN, Angela Christie of Union, IN and Treena Coomes of Glezen, IN.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Banas and mother, “Jerry” Geraldine (Weddle) Banas.

A walk-through visitation will be held from 9 until 10:30 AM Eastern Time Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg. A Private family service will follow. Burial will occur at St. Benards Catholic Cemetery in Fort Branch. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are recommended, social distancing is required, and seating at the church is limited. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to GLAD, Inc. (Greater Love Adoption Decision), P.O. 9105, Evansville, IN 47724.
