Mildred Louise “Milly” Degenhart, 97 of Princeton passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at the Waters of Princeton. She was born October 15, 1922 in Bicknell, IN to Ralph and Theresa (Westfall) Wampler. She had lived in Princeton since 1936 moving from Marshall, IL.
Milly retired as a public accountant for Walter Arnett CPA, having previously worked for Rawlinson Accounting and Wampler Accounting which was started by her father. She was a member of the Hillside United Methodist Church. She was a 75-year member of the Order of Eastern Star where she was a Past Worthy Matron She was an Instituting Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Girls and continued to work with them on a local and state level, received youth award from the Cyrptic Masons and was the first women in the State of Indiana to receive this award and the second women in the nation. She was a Past President of the Southwest Chapter of the Indiana Society of Public Accounts. She served on the Board of the GCARC and was a past Treasurer.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Sue Wampler of Ohio; caregivers, Bill & Lynn Shoulders; nieces, Debora Van der Sluis, Lynn Williams, Beth Ann Wampler, Laurie Rusnak, Nancy Miller, Brenda Williams, Jennifer Williams; nephews, Sam Williams, Harry Lee Degenhart and Joseph Degenhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Degenhart on August 16, 1986; and brother, Lawrence Wampler.
There will be a private visitation and funeral service held at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Jarmon Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Hazleton. The service will be streamed on the Colvin Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at 12:50 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2020.
