Michael Perkins Obituary

 

Michael D. Perkins, 68, of Princeton, Indiana, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, with his family by his side. He was born May 3, 1953 in Lawrence County, Illinois to Lawrence Perkins and Georgia Mae (Edwards) Perkins. Mike married the love of his life, Sarah Lesa Perkins, on October 18, 1994 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Mike retired in 2020 from Indianapolis Power & Light now AES Indiana after 30 years of service. He also had his own remodeling business doing many different kinds of jobs for clients over the years. He was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and I U Basketball. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and coin collecting. Mike had a heart of gold and was a loving husband, dad, son, brother, uncle and grandpa who will be greatly missed by his family. Mike and Lesa attended First General Baptist Church.

His parents preceded him in death.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Sarah Lesa Perkins of Princeton; daughter, Dana (Mike) Wilson of Petersburg, Indiana; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kacey) Wilson, Megan (Jamen) Frederick and Braden Wilson all of Petersburg; 3 great grandchildren, Owen, Lilly and Carter Wilson and Josie Frederick who is due in August; brothers, Wayne (Carol) Perkins, Wendell (Judy) Perkins, Chuck Perkins and Steve (Nannette) Perkins all of Vincennes, Indiana; nieces and nephews; and his loving fur babies, Sage and Colby.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am CDT on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Colvin Funeral Home, 425 N. Main St., Princeton, Indiana, with Pastor Brad Keenan officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery near Hazleton, Indiana. Visitation will be from 3 until 8 pm CDT on Sunday, May 23rd at Colvin Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Heart Association at www.heart.org. Envelopes will also be available at Colvin’s.
