Mary Arburn Obituary

Mary Betty Arburn of Princeton, Indiana passed away July 1st, 2020. She was born in Hazleton, IN, to Waldo and Phavilla Pauley.

She was a beloved Mother, Wife, Grandmother, and farm business professional.  Mary Betty loved farming, loved farming with Jerry and the kids.  She felt blessed to have grown up on a farm and then later to raise her family on a farm.  She and Jerry cared for the land and operated a grain livestock farm business in the Princeton area for over 66 years.  She was christened at Shiloh Church, graduated from Mt. Olympus High School 1954, and married Jerry on October 15th, 1955; they were married nearly 57 years.  She was a member of the Hillside United Methodist Church and the Wesleyan class.

Mary Betty was active in the Cinderellas Home Ec Club.  Mary Betty was a 4-H volunteer and leader for over 20 years, hosting numerous 4-H meetings in her home.  She played a founding role in baking and selling apple pies on behalf of Faith United Methodist Church during the Golden Heritage Days festival.  She and Jerry would pick apples at Fairview Orchard in Mt. Vernon, IN, donate them, the flour and shortening to the church, and bake as many as 700 plus some pies every year, all to raise funds for the church.

She is survived by son Dr. Gregory W. Arburn and wife Karen Arburn of Marion, OH daughter Mary Frances (Arburn) John and husband Bernie John, Fishers, IN and grandchildren Gentry Arburn, Grace Arburn, Parker W. John and Cooper W. John.

Mary Betty was a cherished mother, and she was the best mom ever.  We figure she was the best cook ever.
