John W. Dyer

John W. Dyer, 72, of Princeton, IN, died August 1, 2021, at Gibson General Deaconess Hospital.

John was born in Princeton on April 17, 1949 to Cyrus L. (Bill) Dyer, Jr. and Marietta (Toni) Crostreet Dyer.

On December 30, 1972, in Valparaiso, IN, he married Ruth Martin who survives.  Also surviving are his children, Jessie Dyer (David Moffett) and John M. Dyer (Katie Queen); grandchildren, Miles and Dean Moffett, Conner Dyer, and Ethan and Ellie Queen; brother, Michael O. (Gloria) Dyer; as well as niece, Andrea (Hastings) and nephew, Michael A. Dyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by grandparents C.L. Dyer, Sr. and Annie Bess Dyer, and brother William Andrew.

After living in MN, MI, and KY, John and his family moved to Princeton in 1984 to fulfill goals of starting his own insurance business and keeping the Dyer farm in the family.

John was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, maintaining close ties with Brothers throughout his life. He was a long-time member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Princeton and had served in several organizations including Gibson General Hospital Board. 

After moving to Princeton, he traded his enjoyment of fishing to a passion for golf. He was known to have a great sense of humor and an overall love of life and his family.

Cremation has been arranged by Colvin Funeral Home of Princeton.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm (CT) on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 100 S. Richland Creek Dr., Princeton, IN.A time of visiting family will be held from 1:00 pm (CT) until time of service and after service with a light meal available to those wishing to join with family.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Princeton, Hillside Methodist Church, Princeton, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
