Obituary

James Marshall “Strawberry” Hardiman, Sr., 68, of Princeton, passed away Wednesday, June 8th, 2022 at Linda E. White Hospice in Evansville. He was born May 5, 1954 in Princeton to Marvin, Sr. and Sylvia (Lynch) Hardiman. He had attended St. Paul Missionary Church in Princeton and had retired from Rex Energy after 40 years. Strawberry was known, loved and respected by many. He was an avid supporter of all Princeton Tiger sports, especially the basketball programs. Being a Princeton Tiger himself, a newspaper article billed him as the “Unsung Hero” due to his quiet but extreme effectiveness on the basketball floor.

Strawberry is survived by his sons, James Marshall Hardiman, Jr. and Aaron DeWayne Hardiman; grandchildren Tyrell, Deon, Maleek, DeVonte, Kylee, Keyana and Zayan; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Valerie A. Young (Tim); brothers, Marvin D. Hardiman, Jr. (Debi) and David Hardiman; and a host of nieces and nephews; and loving companion, Fredia Walker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; special auntie, Gwendolyn “Sue” Jenkins; grandparents, Alvin and Helen Hardiman, Bertha Jenkins and Jap Lynch; and a host of aunts and uncles.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Colvin Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Floyd Edwards, Sr. and Elder James Wilkerson. Burial will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery near Lyles Station. Visitation will be from 11 am until the hour of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
