Harry Gooch Obituary

Harry Gooch, Jr., 96, of Washington, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at Eastgate Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Washington. He was born October 4 1924 in Princeton to the late Harry Gooch, Sr. and Mildred May (Roundtree) Gooch and grew up in Princeton. He moved to Cleveland and then to California where he spent the majority of his life. He worked as a House Manager for the McMahan and Hilton families and was a Maitre D’ at the Tail o’ the Cock in Hollywood for over 50 years. He liked the California life, fine food, and wine. He was known as a “jack of all trades” and enjoyed tinkering with electronics. In his later years he would watch soap operas and enjoyed talking to everyone about them. One of his greatest joys was his family. He loved attending the Gooch/Roundtree/Parks/Walden family reunions and spending time with his grandchildren. He was dearly loved and will be missed beyond measure.

Harry is survived by his children, Delton Gooch, Sr. of Princeton and Harriet Gooch Green (Edwin) of Washington; grandchildren, Yolanda Granger Bostsic, Bobbie Granger, Shane Granger, Kimberly Gooch Cullop (Eric), Delton V. Gooch, Jr. (Michelle), Trinton Gooch, Alex Whitehouse, Tamika Gooch, Tracy Green (Sam), Darnell Green (Melissa), Janene Green, and Janette Green; 20 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Gooch of Edwardsville, Illinois; a host of nieces and nephews from coast to coast; and his special adopted family, The McMahan’s of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Corinne C. Gooch; daughter, Joyce M. Gooch Granger; great-granddaughter, Kyera Gooch; and daughter-in-law, Ora Gooch.
