Harold Lee Barrett, 87, of Owensville, IN passed away Thursday, April 16, 2026. He was born May 13, 1938 in Somerville, IN to Ben Barrett and Annabelle (Sokeland) Barrett. Harold graduated from Owensville High School in 1957. The following year he married the love of his life, JoAnn (Creek) Barrett, June 24, 1958. They were blessed with nearly 68 years of marriage. Harold worked at Emge Packing until they closed down. He also owned and operated Barrett Timber alongside of his cousin Bill for over 50 years. Harold enjoyed owning and watching harness horses. They would travel around with the horses to see them race. Harold was loved by many and is already deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ronald (Jo) Barrett, Gary Barrett, and Doyin Barrett; half siblings, Gene, Jenelyn, and Bennie; siblings-in-law, Riley Wiggins and Ronnie Creek; cousin and business partner, Bill Barrett (Nell).
Harold is survived by his wife, JoAnn Barrett; children, Harold “Benja” Barrett (Terri), Ronald Barrett (Sue), Cody Barrett, and Carol Wallace (Richard); siblings, Karon Barrett, Connie Wiggins, Kenny Barrett (Sandy), and Kent Barrett; siblings-in-law, Patty Barrett, Carolyn Creek, Owen Creek (Jana), and Linda Head (Jim); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10am on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Owensville Cemetery in Owensville, IN officiated by Marsha Bishop.
