Elizabeth Thompson Obituary

Elizabeth Thompson, 86, of Wheeling, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022 at The Waters of Princeton. She was born April 23, 1936 in Hungary to Michael and Heidi (Penter) Sterczer.

Elizabeth and her family migrated from Hungary to Germany and then to the United States in the early 1940’s. She graduated from Mt. Olympus High School in 1955.  She has lived in the Wheeling area for the past 70 years.  She was a member of the Mt. Tabor General Baptist Church, serving as the church secretary for many years.  She was involved with the Relay for Life for several years.  She loved to sew, crochet, cook and quilt. Many family members and friends have something that was made by her.

She is survived by her children; Lisa Feagley (Russell) of Wheeling, David Thompson (Melissa) of Wheeling and Jay Thompson (Rachel) of Patoka; grandchildren, Keith Feagley (Jenny), Brandyn Feagley, Dustin Witsman (Hanna), Braydyn Gaultney, Alec Thompson (Nicole), Jacinda Hughen (Matt), Raelynn Thompson (Adam Heffelfinger) and Rhett Thompson; great grandchildren, Ty, Kalli, Ryker, Sawyer and Lizzi Feagley and Adelyn Thompson; sister-in-law, Gloria Sterczer.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Thompson in 2017; sister Heidi Miley, and her husband Jack; brother, Mike Sterczer; and nephew Greg Sterczer.

There will be a funeral service 2 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2022, at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Wayne Rowland officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mt. Olympus. Visitation will be from 11 until 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. 

A special thank you to the staff at the River Oaks Health Campus, and The Waters of Princeton, for all the care that was given to her during her stay.  Also, to special friends, Sue Muncy, Terri Iunghuhn and Devonna Elliott, and caregiver, Kristi Harris, along with everyone else who sent cards and made visits during her stay. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Olympus Community Center c/o Bob Jones, 2449 E. State Rd.56, Hazleton, IN 47640. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
