Elizabeth Gerber Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Gerber, 76, of Ft. Wayne, IN passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026 at Transcendent Healthcare of Owensville. She was born October 14, 1949 in Sterling, CO to Luella Ulla (Spanjer) Duddie. Elizabeth graduated from Haxtun High School in 1967 and completed the Secretarial School program in Denver, CO. She married the love of her life, Judson Edward Gerber, July 6, 1974 and was blessed with 37 years of marriage before his passing on September 1, 2011. Elizabeth worked as a switchboard operator at Team in Wheaton, IL. During this time, she met her husband and he proposed to her over ham radio. They married in Wheaton, IL. and moved to Ft. Wayne where she took a position at Lincoln Bank. She then worked for Sears catalog before working for GTE in 1995 as a Customer Service Rep. The company became Verizon, and she retired in 2006. Elizabeth loved Jesus with all her heart. She was a member of Fellowship Missionary Church in Ft. Wayne. Elizabeth loved her church family and was proud to participate in many aspects of the church. She tutored elementary refugee children, taught Sunday School, helped with Mending Nets, Common Grounds and many small groups throughout the years. Elizabeth and her husband enjoyed ballroom dancing in earlier years, and competed and traveled. She was a Red Hat Lady, and enjoyed traveling and going on bus tours. Elizabeth liked playing cards and was a member of some card clubs. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Elizabeth will be missed deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Judson Gerber; siblings, Irvin Duddie, Barbara Duddie, and Kay Dolen; and great-grandchildren, Zachariah, Kingston, and Grayson Gerber.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Mary Elizabeth Gerber and Daniel (Kaitlyn) Gerber; sister, Dora Gregory; grandchildren, Olivia Gerber, Gabrielle Eshelman, Hope Gerber, Daniel Gerber II, Lillian Gerber, and Judson Gerber; great-grandchildren, Phonix, Stefon, and Talia; and siblings-in-law, Richard (Nancy) Gerber, Ruth (Gary) Leman, Jared (Beth) Gerber and Janna Jacobs.

A funeral service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at Fellowship Missionary Church 2536 E. Tillman Rd. in Ft. Wayne with calling hour one hour before. Burial will follow at Lindenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, June 15, 2026 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Fairhaven Funeral Home, 6557 N. Clinton St., Ft. Wayne.
