Delores "Dee" Joy (Wilkinson) Coomer

Delores “Dee” Joy (Wilkinson) Coomer, 102, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Transcendent Healthcare in Owensville. She was born August 8 ,1923 in Vincennes to the late Walter Wilkinson and Beulah (Brown) Wilkinson. Delores worked as a clerk for Val-U-Dress Shop and, her favorite job, a telephone operator at the telephone company. She was a member at the Gibson County Senior Center where she and her best friend, Dorothy Gasaway, sang and performed in the group formerly known as “Doodle-De-Doers”. Delores was a member of First General Baptist Church. Delores had a very deep faith and loved her family, even bragging on them as much as she could. She was deeply loved, taken care of faithfully by her son, and was a loving example to generations of family that will miss her beyond measure.

Delores is survived by her son, David Coomer (Donna) of Princeton; grandchildren, Carrie Clem, Kelly West (Jason), David Coomer (Jaclyn), and Whitney Coomer; great-grandchildren, Christian House (Ellie), Logan House, Breigh Anna Baumholser (Spencer), Sierra Thomas (Kenny), Alexis Acton (Ellis), Madison Deffendall (Richard), Kaiden Carl Coomer (Karsyn McGraw), Zen Allen Coomer, Addison Archer, Hadlee Archer, and Reagan Reinbrecht; great-great-grandchildren, Eli, Hunter, and Brody House, Jackson and Ava Baumholser, Stella, Briggs, and Lillie Deffendall, and one on the way, Toren Thomas; siblings, Walter Wilkinson (Dorothy), Jack Wilkinson (Georgia), and Mary Richardson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl “Dutch” Coomer in 1998; son, Mike Coomer; grandson, Chris Coomer; brothers, Bob and Danny Wilkinson; brother-in-law, Gene Richardson; and grandson-in-law, Chris Clem.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Andrea Butcher officiating. Interment will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery in Princeton. Visiting hour will be held from 10 until 11 at the funeral home.
