David B. “Super Dave” Shawhan, 81, of Princeton, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at home following an illness. He was born on January 5, 1939 in Pike County, IN to George and Mable (Henke) Shawhan. He had been a resident of Princeton for 56 years. He worked at Hansen Manufacturing for 12 years, previously working as a machinist at Potter & Brumfield and for Old Ben Coal. He was a member of the Columbia Masonic Lodge #450 and the Scottish Rite Valley of Evansville. He was a loyal and enthusiastic St. Louis Cardinals and IU Basketball fan and was best known for his homemade bologna salad and his awesome chocolate cake. He also enjoyed spending time at Crickets visiting with his friends. He was an exceptional father, outstanding grandfather and extraordinary great grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Shawhan of Princeton; children, Terri Krieg of Princeton, Dayna Shawhan of Princeton and Scott Shawhan of Evansville; grandchildren, Cheyne Kermode, Clint Krieg (Melissa) and Coby Krieg (Theresa); several great grandchildren; brother, Mike Shawhan of Petersburg; and beloved canine companion, Lilly.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Flo Phillips.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2020 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Princeton Country Club in Princeton. A Masonic Service will be held at 3 p.m.
