David “Eugene” Carter, 80, of Francisco, IN passed away January 21, 2023 at Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, IN. He was born March 10, 1942 in Patoka, IN to the late David Allen Carter and Dorothy Jane (Wilkins) Carter. David worked at Bob Smith’s Tin Shop 13+ years, as a pipefitter with Local 136 for 40+ years, and Williams brother’s pharmacy for 5 years. He enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar, and spending time with his grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda Sue (Holder) Carter; siblings, Cora “Catherine” Folkers, Rev. Syl Carter, Neal Carter, Dillard Carter, and Iona Watts.
He is survived by his children, Sherry (James) McCoy, Linda Ricketts, Scott (Michelle) Carter, Eric (Robin) Carter, Jenny (JD) White, Chip (Lisa) Holder, and Annette Holder; siblings, Janice Whitehead and Dewayne (Roseann) Pearson; grandchildren, Zachary (Jenna) Downen, Callie Vories, Meganne Angle, Corry Ricketts, Dakota Ricketts, Brock Carter, Audra (Shawn) Thompson, Brody Carter, Amber Carter, Abby Carter, Jaleigh White, Jaylen White, Austin Holder, Alli Holder, Ashley Hume, Lyndsay Dalton, Katie Owens, Alex (Dee) Owens; great-grandchildren, Addison Downen, Malaki Downen, Cade Downen, Callahan Downen, Carter Vories, Chase Vories, Evelynn Lady, Jackson Smith, and Gavin Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2023 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Dennis McFadden officiating. There will be a visitation Friday, January 27, 2023 from 10am-12pm at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at a later time at IOOF in Francisco, IN.
