Darlene Doerner Obituary

Darlene Mae (Holder) Doerner, 80, of Somerville, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. She was born September 3, 1941 to parents, Haskel E. Holder and Sophia Sarah (Butcher) Holder and married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Lee Doerner on October 15, 1960 in Mackey. They were blessed with 59 years together before his passing on February 23, 2020. Darlene was a Mackey High School graduate and worked for over 25 years as a CNA. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, singing, music, watching Hallmark, researching genealogy, and giving the best hugs on the planet. Her favorite past time was having a good conversation and she was a master of the art of talking. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loved by many and will never be forgotten.

Darlene is survived by her sons, Brett Doerner (Debbie) of Spurgeon and Mike Doerner of Coe; son-in-law, Ronald Green, Jr.; 12 grandchildren, Brandy Ellerbruck, Claude Green (Tara), Ronald Green III, Josh Green, Ashley Ellerbruck, Devon Green (Amber), Christopher J. Doerner, Brittney Overfield (Ben), Brooke Nossett (Kaleb), Colton Doerner, Mitchell Doerner (Tesha), and Natasha Doerner; 31 great-grandchildren, Joseph Blayne Ellerbruck, Karen Green, Rease Green, Willow Green, Mekhi Green, Taylor Kennedy, Joey Green, Sebastian Green, Jerzey Green, Jonas Green, Landen Ellerbruck, Aleyah Ellerbruck, Brylee Ellerbruck, Adalyn Green, Alice Green, Spencer Cannon, Christopher Ryan Doerner, Tori Doerner, Weston Overfield, Wyatt Overfield, Bella Overfield, Owen Nossett, Gunner Nossett, Kimber Nossett, Raelyn Doerner, River Doerner, Abby Doerner, Keegan Doerner, Kaden Doerner, Damien Maier, Dreagan Doerner, and Ryker Doerner; siblings-in-law, Barbara Holder, Arletta Holder, Richard and Delores Doerner, Lester and Terry Doerner, Patty Vaughn, and Teresa Motley; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children, Sherry (Doerner) Green and Mark Doerner; granddaughter, Krystal (Doerner) Maier; great-grandson, Noah Green; siblings, Jan Gregory, Gerald Holder, Darvin Holder, and Billy Holder; an infant sister, Donna K. Holder; and grandson-in-law, Joe Ellerbruck.

The Doerner family is hosting a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Somerville Wesleyan Church officiated by Reverend David Brandon. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1 until service time, 2 PM at the church. A burial of ashes will be held at a later date at Townsley Cemetery in Mackey.
