Dale McGowan Obituary

Dale Edward McGowan, 71, of Oakland City, passed away July 28, 2022 at Deaconess Henderson Hospital. He was born June 22, 1951 in Princeton and served the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict on the USS Enterprise. Dale was a past member of the VFW and American Legion. He worked for over 35 years as a truck driver and between his job and service in the Navy he visited all 50 states. Dale married Kozetta Diane (White) McGowan on June 22, 2019 in Oakland City and she survives. He was loved and respected by many. Dale was someone you could count on and would help anyone out when he could. He will be missed beyond measure.

Along with his wife, Kozetta of Oakland City, Dale is survived by his children, Wendy McGowan of Princeton, Heath McGowan (Tonya) of South Carolina, Elvis McGowan (Tina) of Texas, Janette Braseth of Washington, and Michelle Coleman of Mississippi; siblings, Sandra Robison (Jay) of Haubstadt, David McGowan, Jr. (Bonnie) of Boonville, Cathy Sims of Tennessee, Treecia McGowan of Princeton, Faye Dorris (Gary) of Princeton, Dean McGowan (Beth) of Mackey, Tomi Jones of Elberfeld, Marlin McGowan (Pam) of Princeton, Bobby McGowan (Tammy) of Somerville, Gene Burkhart (Patty) of Oakland City, Mark Burkhart (Cheryl) of Poseyville, and Nancy Runau of Princeton; 13 grandchildren, Jonathon Coleman, Cassandra Coleman, Derrick Coleman, Christian Coleman, Jacob Coleman, Tanika Mason, Keeley Fountain, Zandrea McGowan, Amberly Gottfriedson, Alanys Gottfriedson, Beau Braseth, Virgil McGowan, and Shyenne McGowan; 11 great-grandchildren, Rosamae, Starla, Salleena, Steven, and George Coleman, Layah Skywalker and Aria Rose Boothe, Zoey Cotner, Wyatt and Nathan Clark, and Nicholas Vanbrunt; and almost 200 nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; Dave McGowan and Betty (McClure) McGowan; step-mother, Thelma McGowan; and siblings, Charles McGowan, Helen Lamey, Virgil McGowan, Wanda McGowan, and Marlin Burkhart.

Private family services will be held.
