Charles F. Davis, 88, of Princeton, passed away Monday, May 15 2023 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. He was born August 26, 1934 in Princeton to Russell “Cricket” and Mary (McIntire) Davis.
Charlie had lived in Princeton all of his life. He was a veteran serving in the U. S. Army from 1959 -1961, and was a Life Member of the V.F.W. Charlie was a coal miner and a member of the U.M.W.A., retiring from Amax Coal in Keensburg in 1997. Previous to that he worked with his dad and brother at Cricket’s Lunch Room where he enjoyed serving food and coffee to the patrons, as well as playing pool there. Charlie liked riding horses and raising vegetables in his garden. He especially loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his wife, Gail Davis of Princeton; daughter, Amy Kissel (Mark) of Princeton; four grandchildren, Haley Ziliak (Tyler), Gavin Kissel (Maci), John Kissel (Rachel), and Seth Kissel; three great-grandchildren, Raleigh, Charlotte, and Violet Ziliak; sisters, Betty Ward, Carrol Brown, and Darlene Lutz all of Princeton.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; son, Charles F. Davis Jr.; brother, Don Davis; sisters, Brenda Douglas and Marge Lanman.
A memorial service will be held, 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Fr. Gary Kaiser officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Princeton.
Family and friends may visit, from 10 a.m. until the service time on Wednesday at the funeral home
