Beatrice Lynn Obituary

Beatrice Day Lynn, 101, of Evansville, Ind., died at 11:25 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020 at Evansville Protestant Home.

The daughter of Thomas Calvin Dunn and Malvina McIntire Dunn, Mrs. Lynn was born in Cowling, Ill., on Sept. 3, 1918, and raised in the Cowling area.

Mrs. Lynn was a homemaker who was known for her skills as a seamstress. She later taught herself to reupholster furniture. Mrs. Lynn had a small home business where she utilized these skills. She made her first quilt at the age of 83 and was an avid quilter until her eyesight no longer allowed her to continue.

Survivors include a daughter, Delores (Day) McDevitt of Oakland City, Ind.; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Day of Robinson, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Stoneberger of Lawrenceville, Ill.; Jamie Walter of Chandler, Ind.; Jerry Day of O’Fallon, Ill.; Scott McDevitt of Indianapolis; Sean McDevitt of Franklin, Tenn.; Natalie Knoblett and Debbie Hess, both of Robinson, Ill.; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence (Larry) Day, whom she married July 3, 1936; a daughter, Mona Sermersheim; a son, Jerry C. Day; two sons-in-law, Giles “Fred” Sermersheim and Stephen G. McDevitt; two brothers; a sister; and her second husband, Arthur Lynn.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private funeral service is planned for immediate family only, with Colvin Funeral Home, 425 N. Main. Street., Princeton, Ind., handling arrangements. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Mount Carmel, Ill.
