Mona J. (Day) Sermersheim

Mona J. Sermersheim, 82, of Lawrenceville, IL, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. She was born February 3, 1937 in Mount Carmel, IL to Larry and Beatrice (Dunn) Day.  She had lived in Lawrenceville the past 8 years, moving from Francisco. She had worked as an adjuster at Potter & Brumfield for 39 years. She was a member of  Barney Prairie Christian Church in Wabash County, IL. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, cooking and baking, especially pumpkin bread. She also enjoyed quilting, making a quilt for every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her mother, Beatrice Day Lynn of Evansville; daughter, Stephanie Stoneberger (Robert) of St. Francisville; stepchildren, Roger Sermersheim (Robin) and Cindy Sermersheim, both of Oakland City; grandchildren, Nicole Stoneberger, Amanda Siddens (Bill), Ryan Sermersheim (Kelsey), Regan Sermersheim, Randa Schroader (Jonathan), Andrew Young and Steven Ellis; sister, Delores McDevitt of Oakland City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; husband, Fred Sermersheim in 2012; and brother, Jerry Day.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Friday until the hour of service. Burial will follow at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans Association, in care of the Gibson County Veterans Service Office, 225 N. Hart St., Room 8, Princeton, IN 47670. Envelopes will also be available at Colvin’s.
