Jerry Wise Obituary

 

Jerry Wise, 83, of Princeton, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. He was born January 2, 1936 in Princeton to the late, Jerauld Thomas “Doc” & Marie L. (Robling) Wise. He married Sara Sue (Beasley) Wise on December 31, 1958 at the Methodist Church in Francisco and they were blessed with 60 years together.

Jerry proudly served in the United State Army in the 51st Infantry 4th Armored Division in Germany from 1958 until 1960. He worked at Hansen Mfg. in Princeton starting in 1954, and was a tooling engineer and was tool room foreman, retiring on January 2, 1998. Jerry was a member of the Indiana Archaeological Society. He enjoyed restoring and working on antique tractors, woodworking, and was a collector of various items. He was an avid reader and loved being outdoors. He loved traveling, especially with his brother, Fred and Mary Philips on the WRAY trips.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sue Wise of Princeton; children, Michael Dennis Wise (Barbara) of Vincennes and Terri Lynn Hollingsworth (Chuck) of Princeton; brother, Tom Wise (Glenda) of Princeton; grandchildren, Kara, Christopher and Kirk Wise, Stephen, Wesley and Eddie Hollingsworth; and great-grandchildren, Nick, Alex and Scotty Kelly, Johnathan and Danielle Popplewell, Richard, Zoey, and Charlotte Wise.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bonnie Beck; and his twin brother, Fred Wise.

A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton officiated by Pastor Brad Keenan. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery East of Princeton. Military rites will be provided by Retired Military Veterans.  A visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9th at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Gibson County Animal Services, P. O. Box 474, Princeton, IN 47670 or to Gibson County Special Olympics, 1504 Hawthorne Court, Princeton, IN 47670. Envelopes will also be available at Colvin’s.
