Jean Riedford

Jean Riedford, 89, of Princeton, passed away Friday, September 27, 2019 at University Nursing and Rehab in Evansville. She was born July 22, 1930 in Princeton to the late Paul J. and Gertrude (Jost) Farny.

Jean worked at Siegel’s in Evansville until she was married, then became a homemaker and helped on the family chicken farm and also did babysitting in her home. She had resided in the Princeton area since 1965, moving here from Francisco. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Don Koester of St. Wendel; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Gail Riedford of Princeton and Mark and Maria Riedford of Owensville; eight grandchildren, Shawna Reed, Sheri Mueller, Nicholas Riedford, Laura Boldt, Emily DeFelice, and Andrew, Scott and Jennifer Riedford; eight great grandchildren, Jade, Tad, Sage, Bryn, Nash, Emma, Weston and Miles; two sisters, Betty Smith of Paxton, IL and Ruth McKiernan of South Bend, IN.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years, Raymond J. Riedford on August 4, 2007; a grandson, Christopher Riedford; 3 brothers, Ernest, Earl and Herbert Farny; and 2 sisters, Mary Martin and Dorothy Hopkins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 S. Race St., Princeton, IN 47670, with Father David Nunning as the celebrant. There will be a rosary by the D of I at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30th at Colvin Funeral Home, 425 N. Main St., Princeton, IN 47670 and again on Tuesday at the church from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Princeton.
