Jan McConnell Obituary

Jan McConnell, 64, of Princeton died Thursday, September 27 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis from complications suffered during heart surgery.

Jan was born on October 13, 1953 to Jimmie and Mary Lou Watkins.  She grew up in Wheeling, Indiana and graduated from Princeton Community High School in 1971.  Following graduation, Jan obtained an Associate’s Degree in Business from Oakland City University.  She was employed at Farmer’s National Bank in Princeton until 1986 when she decided to give up her career and devote all of her time to her two daughters as a homemaker.

Jan is preceded in death by an infant son, Samuel McConnell, who died on June 14, 1983.  She is also preceded by her mother-in-law Jessie McConnell.

Surviving is her devoted husband of 37 years, Mike McConnell.  The two were married on May 2, 1981 at the Wheeling United Methodist Church.  Also surviving are daughters Sara (Bryce) Abbey and Jenny (Zach) Kolb.  Both of whom are dedicating the rest of their lives to be as loving and compassionate as their Mother.  Jan also leaves behind her parents, Jimmie and Mary Lou Watkins and father-in-law Bill McConnell.  Also surviving is her sister Jane (Rod) Vickers, brothers-in-law, Bill (Charlene) McConnell, Pat McConnell, Joe McConnell and sister-in-law, Sister Jane McConnell.  Jan is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom she loved very much.  Most importantly, Jan is survived by grandsons Lane and Jase Kolb and Hudson and Harrison Abbey.  They were her world as much as she was theirs.

Jan was active in the Wheeling United Methodist Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved watching Princeton Tiger Athletics, IU Basketball and anything her family was involved in.  Jan also loved her daily Pepsi from Taco Tierra.
