Jack Pickett Obituary

Jack A. Pickett, 71, of Francisco, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at his home in Francisco. He was born October 31, 1948 in Oakland City, IN. He was the owner and operator of Jack Pickett’s Towing & Recovery for 40 years. He also operated Jack Pickett’s Garage & Parts for 20 years, where he sold parts and worked on cars and sold used cars. He was a certified Chevrolet mechanic. He also fixed and sold used appliances. When he was younger, he enjoyed fixing up and racing cars and motorcycles. He was a special deputy for 16 years for the Gibson County Sheriff’s Dept., and ran for Sheriff in 2010 and again in 2014. He helped organize a fundraiser in 2002 for the Princeton Police Dept. to get their first K9 dog. He was also Grand Marshal for Somerville, IN in 2004. He was a real Jack of all trades and amazing kind man.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Karen S. Pickett of 46 years, and his daughter, Jacqueline Michelle Pickett McAvoy, and great grandson, Joseph Gabriel Pickett McAvoy.

He is survived by his children, Crystal Pickett of Oakland City, Clifford Pickett Eskew of Francisco, James Conner of Virginia, Lisa Cropper of Arkansas, Tammy Eskew of Pennsylvania, and William Jack Pickett McAvoy and Samantha Lawrence-McAvoy of Francisco; grandchildren, Hayden Walters, Jim and David Conner, Daniel McAvoy, Jessica, Elaine, Kelly and Patrick McHugh, and Tyler and Dewayne Cropper; great grandchildren, Zoey McAvoy and Zach Morris.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Tuffy Jerry Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, January 24th and again on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Colvin Funeral Home.
