Elsa E. Thacker, 85, of Princeton, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Home & Rehab in Oakland City. She was born December 29, 1932 in Bruni, Texas to Manual and Catalina (Valdez) Mendieta. She was member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton. She was a retired Spanish teacher, teacher at Franklin & St. Joseph school. She also was a Spanish interpreter for the Gibson County Court. She was a member of D of I, Beta Sigma Phi and the teachers association.

She is survived by her children, Debbie Bateman (Kenny) of Patoka, Pam Parker (Jerry) of Princeton, Jerry Thacker of Beaumont, TX and Frank Thacker of Haubstadt; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer Bateman, Lacy Pea, Michael Bateman, Lauren Alston, Logan Parker, Heather Venezia, Josh Turman, Baily Parker, Trevor Hartman, Jordan Thacker, Jake Thacker, Katelynn Thacker and Hannah Thacker; 16 great grandchildren, Austin & Breanna Peacock, Bailey Turman, Olivia Alston, Parker Alston, Danica Pea, Charles Pea, Brendan, Aleigha and Joshua Bateman, Jace Masters, Waylon, Kash & Bowen Parker, and Wyatt & Tatum Thacker; 1 great-great grandson, Colsten Grimes; brother, Hector Mendieta of Texas.

Preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Brenda Hartman; 3 brothers and 2 sisters; and 2 infant siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 South Race Street, Princeton, IN 47670, with Father Brian Emmick, celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday evening at the Colvin Funeral Home, Princeton, IN. D of I Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday evening.
