Elizabeth “Betty” Claire Kays, 95, of Princeton, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019 at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton. She was born July 31, 1924 in Columbus, OH to the late Frank and Lenora (Lauderbaugh) Deeds. Betty resided in Ohio and was a Rosie the Riveter at Wright-Patterson Airfield, which is where she met her future husband, Adrian Kays who was stationed there while serving in the Army Air Corp. They made their home in Princeton.
Betty was a member of Broadway Christian Church in Princeton and Village Homemakers. She enjoyed baking, crafts and gardening. She was a cook for many years at both Baldwin Heights and Brumfield schools in Princeton.
Betty is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, David and Barbara Kays of Baltimore, MD, Richard and Donna Kays of Plain City, OH and Donald and Debbie Kays of Princeton; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jeffrey Lauderback of Xenia, OH; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Peggy Beery of Hillyard, OH and Marsha Kiger and Anita Bosch (Jerry) all of Lancaster, OH.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian R. Kays on February 2, 2013; and also 3 brothers, William, Robert and Harold Deeds.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. David Scott Kays officiating. Burial will follow at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, December 6th at Colvin’s.
