Janice Elaine (Tyring) Majors, 72, of Oakland City, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. She was born May 21, 1951 in Evansville and lived most of her life in Oakland City. Janice graduated Wood Memorial High School class of 1969 and was the most dedicated homemaker. She was an active and faithful member of the Mackey Church of the Nazarene, and loved baking and cooking to feed her family. Janice enjoyed attending her grandkids events and watching birds and hummingbirds with her husband. The family will remember her beautiful singing voice and how she kept her mind busy reading novels.
Janice is survived by her husband of 54 years, Richard Majors of Oakland City; daughter, Lori Riley (Jim) of Oakland City; son, Ryan Majors (Chelsea) of Oakland City; grandchildren, Tristan Riley (Mallory) of Newburgh, Kaden Riley of Oakland City, Allison Riley (Steiger) of Oakland City, and Owen Riley of Oakland City; brother, Lowell Tyring (Lisa) of La Marque, Texas; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth Tyring and Ruth Aileen (France) Tyring; granddaughter, Lauren Riley; and sister, Pamela Woods.
The funeral service will be held 10:00 AM (CST) Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City offiicated by Pastor Jared Henry. Interment will follow at Spurgeon Cemetery in Spurgeon, Indiana. Visiting hours will be held from 4 until 8:00 PM (CST) Friday at the funeral home.
