Donald L. Whitehead, 87 passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016 at his home rural Princeton.  He was born in Francisco, Oct 27, 1928 to Tom and Minnie (Robling) Whitehead.

Don attended school in Francisco and graduated from Francisco High School in 1947 where he played basketball for 4 years.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict.  He was in the retail gas business operating a Standard gas station on south Main St in Princeton and later the wholesale gas business delivering bulk gas in the area. Don was a member of the First Baptist Church in Princeton. He was one of the co-founders of the Francisco Saddle Club in the 1940’s and he enjoyed horses.  He loved to spend time outside, get on his mower and take care of his yard. He was an avid I.U. basketball fan, planning activities so as not to interfere with watching a game.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wanda Whitehead of Princeton; son, Steven L. (Cindy) Whitehead of Princeton; daughter, Mayla (Bob) Buckner of Grimsley, TN; sister, Thelma (Bob) McDonald of Princeton; 3 grandchildren, Sara (Patrick) Donovan of Tampa, FL, Andrea (Christopher) Whitehead of Newburgh, Jared (Ashley) Whitehead of Raleigh, NC; 2 step-grandchildren, Casey (Brian) Stevens of Newburgh and Beau Hobson of Princeton; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lois Grubb and brother, Jim Whitehead.
